Ecuador & Galapagos

The World's Greatest
Natural Treasure.

Simply an amazing experience!  Join Small Families in 2012 for our second trip to this awesome destination and experience first hand one of the world's greatest natural treasures, (known by most people only via the 'Discovery Channel').

'Memories made here will stay with you forever'

The highlight of our stay in Ecuador will be three nights spent at La Casa del Suizo, a tranquil Amazonian village located on the shores of the Napo river and close to the eastern slopes of the Andes.

A Unique Experience
You will be introduced to the secrets of the tropical rain forest and how the indigenous population use plants for medicinal purposes. You will ride down river on a raft made of balsa wood and see how you get on with a real blowpipe!

After all this and more, we then transfer to the Galapagos Islands staying on Santa Cruz for 2 nights where we will visit the Charles Darwin Station and also tour the bay. Then a great opportunity to try some snorkelling with the playful and cheeky Galapagos sea lions.

There is a full day's cruise to Seymour Island and the final two nights will be spent on Isabela Island. (see itinerary)

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
During our tour, we stay at four different hotels,
all very different but as always with Small Families, all excellent quality. In Ecuador, we stay at the 5 Star Hotel Quito and then Casa del Suizo. On Santa Cruz Island, we stay at the Hotel Silberstein and on Isabela Island, we stay at the Hotel La Casa De Marita

A LITTLE HISTORY
Ecuador's most beloved national park lies in splendid isolation in the Pacific Ocean. The Galapagos Islands are enthralling. Every year, curious visitors journey to the remote islands to understand what inspired The Origin of Species.

Relatively young, the Galapagos sprouted out of the Pacific from a lava vent on the ocean floor, (the same process created the Hawaiian Islands) and it continues today. The lava vent is gradually creeping east forming more islands as it moves.

There are currently sixty named islands, two of the principals being Isabela and Santa Cruz.
