 TRAVEL ADVICE

LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE
The luggage allowance for this flight is 20 kg per person (except for infants under 2 years of age who do not have an allowance).  You may be charged by the airline for any excess luggage.

Please Note:  Recently a maximum weight restriction has been imposed of 32kg for any one piece of luggage; any one piece of luggage in excess of 32kg may not be carried by the airline.

HAND LUGGAGE (Important, please read)
From July 1st 2006, strict regulations were implemented regarding the size of hand luggage allowed to be carried in the cabin.  The maximum dimensions are as follows: 22” (56cm) long, 18” (45cm) wide and 10” (25cm) deep.  All bags larger than this must be checked in.  Strict regulations also apply on what can and cannot be carried in hand luggage.

Once your luggage is checked in at the airport, you will not have access to it again until you are in Majorca. We therefore recommend that you carry any medication and refreshments that you or your children may need, in your hand luggage.  Drinking water will be provided on the transfer bus from the airport to hotel.

LUGGAGE LABELS
Please ensure that the 'Small Families' luggage labels are clearly visible on each piece of luggage, especially your hand luggage, for easy recognition by 'Small Families' staff and your fellow travellers. Remember that when you arrive at the airport, everyone displaying these labels are your companions for the week so do please introduce yourselves.

(IMPORTANT INFORMATION)
CHECK-IN:
Flight timings can be subject to changes at short notice, please check your tickets for exact timings.

AIRCRAFT SEATING: Occasionally a situation occurs where the aircraft seating process splits up family members, this can occur if you check-in later rather than earlier.  To avoid this risk, please try to arrive for check-in in plenty of time.

CHECK-IN
Check-In is at London Heathrow Terminal 1. BMI operate an automated check-in for your flight and you can do so up to 3 hours before departure.  It is advisable to arrive at the airport as early as possible, due to security checks. Please check the TV monitors for full and up to date information.

Carole will be travelling with you on the flight and will be in the Check-In area to assist you if necessary.  If you miss Carole in the check-in area, we suggest you meet in departures as advised below.  In case of emergency, (on the day of travel only) please contact Carole on mobile number ----------

MEETING POINT
We suggest you meet the Small Families Host and your fellow travellers in the seating area outside THE BEAUTY CENTRE approximately 1 hour before the flight departure time.  To reach the meeting point, proceed through Passport Control and security check area and then turn right to the shopping and restaurant area. THE BEAUTY CENTRE is adjacent to the large DIXON’S Store.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a valid passport. If you are travelling on a British or Irish passport you will not need a visa, however other passports may be different in which case you should contact the Spanish Embassy.  Children, including babies, who are not already included on a valid 10 year passport, will need to hold their own passport to travel abroad.

Where a visa is not required, passports must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry. For security reasons it is very important that you check that the NAMES ON YOUR FLIGHT TICKETS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE NAMES IN YOUR PASSPORTS.  Please be aware that you may be denied travel should the two not match. (Middle names excepted, note: we also use the titles Ms, Miss and Mstr on air tickets).

ARRIVAL INTO MAJORCA
After immigration, pass into the Baggage Hall and collect your luggage from the carousel and then pass through the customs channel where a Small Families representative will be waiting to show you to the transport for the 50 minute transfer to the hotel.

DEPARTURE DAY – Please bring your locked suitcases to the reception area and clearly labelled with a ‘Small Families’ luggage label.  Remember to hand in your room and safe keys at the reception desk, collect passports and settle any outstanding bills that you may have signed to your room.

 GENERAL INFORMATION

EXCURSIONS - Whilst we do not openly promote excursions, your escort can gather information on recommended excursions and book them on your behalf - should you wish to take an excursion as a group.

NOTE:- If you are approached on the beach and in the street by other companies selling tours, we cannot recommend them nor guarantee your safety or the quality of the excursion.  If you should purchase from one of these companies, it will be at your own risk.

ALL INCLUSIVE WRIST BAND – On arrival wrist bands will be placed on you and your children for complete access to the All-Inclusive facilities.  This will be removed when you check out of the hotel.

KIDDIES CLUB - Age 4 – 12 Years – Please contact your tour escort for up to date information before placing your children in the Kiddies Club.

CHILDREN’S DISCO – Especially for the youngsters but all are welcome, takes place at approx 8.30pm each evening and runs for about 40 minutes. Please note: these arrangements may be subject to change.

CLIMATE & CLOTHING – You can expect warm, pleasant weather during the day, however, you should take a light sweater or wrap for the evenings should they become cool.  Respectable clothing should be worn if you are away from the beach or hotel.  Good walking shoes or trainers are recommended if you intend to do any sightseeing.

The climate, while hot during the summer, is generally accompanied by a pleasant cooling breeze.  Evening time temperatures also tend to be comfortably pleasant but obviously these conditions can change and may well vary later in the season.

HEALTH HAZARDS – The main hazard in Majorca is sunburn.  Take a sun hat, sunglasses, plenty of high-factor sunscreen and sip water regularly.  It is recommended that you limit your sunbathing sessions until you begin to tan.  Sunburn can seriously ruin your holiday.

HAIR DRYERS – These are available in your room.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES – There are two washing machines, dryers and ironing facilities situated on the 1st floor next to the children’s club.

KETTLE/FRIDGE – These are provided in the room but you need to provide your own milk which is available from the local shops.

MEDICAL CARE – You are strongly advised to obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which is now the replacement for the former E111 form, (the old E111 form is no longer valid).  The EHIC (one per person) is required when travelling within the EU and entitles you to limited medical treatment at state-funded medical centres/hospitals under the EU reciprocal arrangements.  Note - the EHIC does not cover you for any private treatment you may obtain, any such treatment must be paid for in full at the time.  Certain Terms and Conditions may also apply so please read the enclosed booklet “Health Advice for Travellers”. Applications for the EHIC are free of charge and can be made by post, via the Post Office or online at (www.dh.gov.uk/travellers

TRAVEL INSURANCE – Please note that the EHIC has limited use and therefore, is not a substitute for normal travel insurance.  It is essential that you and your family are fully covered by appropriate travellers insurance, preferably including cover for an emergency flight home by air ambulance in the event of serious injury or illness.

POWER SUPPLY – 200v/50hz is standard.  An adapter for two-pin sockets will be needed.

RECEPTION – The reception desk is open 24 hours daily.

SAFETY DEPOSIT BOXES – These are available in your room at a cost of approx. 15 euros plus a 3 euro deposit.

TOWELS - Are supplied in the rooms but towels for the beach are not.  Towels must not be taken from the rooms.

TELEPHONES - There are telephones in each room and these can be used to make calls back home after leaving a deposit at reception.  Please note the charges before making international calls.  To speak to reception dial (9).

To call the UK, dial 00 44 then the number you wish to call, omitting the initial 0. (i.e. 00 44 1234 56789).

INTERNET – This service is available at the Internet Café which is within 5 minutes walk of hotel. The cost is 1 euro per 15 minutes.

Note - Gratuities for the hotel restaurant, airport coach drivers, airport and hotel porters have already been paid by Small Families; however, gratuities have not been included for your room maid, (as a guide, the equivalent of about 50p per day should be sufficient).

And finally…Worth remembering.

The Tourist Ten Commandments

  • Thou shalt not expect to find things as thou hast left them at home, for thou hast left home to find things different

  • Thou shalt not take anything too seriously, for a carefree attitude is the basis for a fine holiday.

  • Thou shalt not allow other tourists to get on thy nerves, for thou art paying good money to enjoy thyself.

  • Remember to take only half the clothes thou thinkest thou needest and twice the money.

  • Know at all times where thy passport is, for a person without a passport is a person without a country.

  • Remember that if we had been meant to stay in one place, we would have been created with roots.

  • Thou shalt not worry, for he who worrieth hath no pleasure.

  • When in Majorca thou shalt be prepared to do somewhat as the locals.

  • Thou shalt not judge the people of a country by one person who hath given thee grief.

  • Remember, thou art a guest in other lands and he that treateth his host with respect, shall be honoured.

We wish you a most enjoyable holiday in Majorca
