Your Small Families Host for this holiday is Fiona.

Small Families Hosts, whilst not carers or childminders are friendly, but unobtrusive and mostly work behind the scenes.  They look after any travel arrangements, act as hosts at dinner and activities (where applicable), liaise with local agents/guides regarding any group excursions that may be requested and generally make sure that everything runs as it should.  Your host will of course, also help resolve any problems you may have whilst on holiday.

 TRAVEL ADVICE

LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE
The luggage allowance for this flight is 20 kg per person (except for infants under 2 years of age who do not have an allowance).  You may be charged by the airline for any excess luggage.

Please Note:  Recently a maximum weight restriction has been imposed of 32kg for any one piece of luggage; any one piece of luggage in excess of 32kg may not be carried by the airline.

HAND LUGGAGE (Important, please read)
Strict regulations have been implemented regarding the size of hand luggage allowed to be carried in the cabin.  The maximum dimensions are as follows: 22” (56cm) long, 18” (45cm) wide and 10” (25cm) deep.  All bags larger than this must be checked in. Strict regulations also apply on what can be carried in hand luggage, as these regulations can change at short notice, we advise that you visit www.baa.com shortly before your holiday to check for any security updates or changes.

Once your luggage is checked in at the airport, you will not have access to it again until you are in Croatia. We therefore, recommend that you carry any medication and refreshments that you or your children may need, in your hand luggage.

LUGGAGE LABELS
Please ensure that the 'Small Families' luggage labels are clearly visible on each piece of luggage, especially your hand luggage, for easy recognition by Small Families staff and your fellow travellers. Remember that when you arrive at the airport, everyone displaying these labels are your companions for the week so please introduce yourselves.

(IMPORTANT INFORMATION)
CHECK-IN:
Flight timings can be subject to changes at short notice, please ensure you check your tickets for exact timings.

AIRCRAFT SEATING: Occasionally a situation occurs where the aircraft seating process splits up family members, please check the seat allocation on your boarding card when issued at check-in to ensure you and your family member are seated together.  Please try to arrive for check-in in plenty of time.

CHECK-IN
Check-In is at London Gatwick, North Terminal and we recommend you do so no less than 2 hours before the published flight departure, (please allow for possible traffic delays). On arrival, please check the TV monitors for check-in information.

Your host will already be in Croatia, however, you will still be met at Check-In by a Small Families representative to greet and assist you if required.  In case of problems (on the day of travel only), please call mobile phone number ---------------------.

MEETING POINT IN DEPARTURES
As your host is already in the resort, if you wish, we suggest you might like to meet up with your fellow travellers in the seating area by the SWATCH kiosk between World Duty free and Harrods approximately 1 hour before the flight departure time, (look out for the Small Families labels on people’s hand luggage).

PASSPORTS AND VISAS
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a valid passport. If you are travelling on a British or Irish passport you will not need a visa, however other passports may be different in which case you should contact the Croatian Embassy.  Children, including babies, who are not already included on a valid 10 year passport, will need to hold their own passport to travel abroad.

Where a visa is not required passports must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry. For security reasons it is very important that you check that the NAMES ON YOUR FLIGHT TICKETS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE NAMES IN YOUR PASSPORTS.  Please be aware that you may be denied travel should the two not match, (middle names excepted, including titles Ms, Mrs and Miss)

DUBROVNIK
On arrival into Dubrovnik you will pass through Passport Control before collecting your luggage from the carousel.  Your host will meet you in the airport and direct you to our coach for the 30 minute drive to the harbour where our private ferry will be waiting to take you out to the Island of Lopud.

ARRIVAL ONTO LOPUD
The ferry will take approximately 30 minutes to reach the island and will dock at the hotel’s private jetty.

Hotel Check-In – When checking-in to the hotel, it is necessary to leave your passports at reception overnight.

First Night – You will arrive at the hotel at around 5:30pm, after allowing time for everyone to unpack and freshen-up, we suggest meeting up for our first evening meal together at about 7:30pm, although your host will confirm details with you.

Day One – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.  Those who wish to breakfast together should meet your host at 9.00am, this is by no means obligatory and should you wish to dine earlier or later then that is fine.

Return Travel Day –Your host will inform you of the final day arrangements during the week.

 GENERAL INFORMATION

CURRENCY – Croatia uses the Croatian Kuna (HRK). One British Pound (£) is equivalent to approximately 10 Croatian Kuna. The hotel has a Currency Exchange facility which opens between 5.00 pm and 9.30 pm each evening.

EXCURSIONS - Whilst we do not openly promote excursions, they are available via our Croatian Agents “Elite Travel”. As there is a regular ferry service (approx £1 return) between the island and Dubrovnik, it is very easy to visit this fascinating old city.

NOTE:  Small refundable deposits may be required for equipment.  Courts should be booked in advance.

NOTE:  Major credit cards accepted: Diner’s club, American Express, Master Card and Visa.

CLIMATE & CLOTHING – You can expect a very pleasant Mediterranean climate.  Although it will be warm during the day, remember a jacket or sweater for the evenings just in case the weather changes.  Respectable clothing should be worn if you are away from the beach or hotel – good walking shoes or trainers if you intend to do any sightseeing.

HEALTH HAZARDS – The main hazard in Croatia is sunburn.  Take a sun hat, sunglasses, plenty of high-factor sunscreen and drink water regularly.  It is recommended that you limit your sunbathing sessions until you begin to tan.  Sunburn can seriously ruin your holiday.

MEDICAL CARE - There is NO free health care for visitors to Croatia - all medical services must be paid for. The hotel has a doctor on 24 hour call. You must not leave home without adequate insurance, preferably including cover for an emergency flight home in the event of serious injury or illness.

TRAVEL INSURANCE - It is essential that you and your family are covered by appropriate travellers insurance.

POWER SUPPLY – 200v/50Hz is standard.  An adapter for two-pin sockets will be needed.

SAFETY DEPOSIT BOXES – These are available in your room.

TOWELS - Are supplied in the rooms

TELEPHONES - There are telephones in each room. Please note the charges before making international calls.  To call the UK, dial 0044 then the number you wish to call, omitting the initial 0. TIME DIFFERENCES¸ – Croatia is 1 hour ahead of GMT so you will not need to change your watch.  Flight times given above have taken the time change into consideration.

Note – All timings, costs, charges, exchange rates etc. were correct at the time this itinerary was produced.

And finally – worth remembering…..

The Tourist Ten Commandments

1    Thou shalt not expect to find things as thou hast left them at home, for thou hast left home to find things different.

2    Thou shalt not take anything too seriously, for a carefree attitude is the basis for a fine holiday.

3    Thou shalt not allow other tourists to get on thy nerves, for thou art paying good money to enjoy thyself.

4    Remember to take only half the clothes thou thinkest thou needest and twice the money

5    Know at all times where thy passport is, for a person without a passport is a person without a country.

6    Remember that if we had been meant to stay in one place, we would have been created with roots.

7    Thou shalt not worry, for he who worrieth hath no pleasure

8    When in Croatia thou shalt be prepared to do somewhat as the locals.

9    Thou shalt not judge the people of a country by one person who hath given thee grief.

10   Remember, thou art a guest in other lands and he that treateth his host with respect, shall be honoured.

We would like to wish you a most enjoyable holiday in Croatia
